Gloria Winkelmann, Founder of Winkelmann Realty, maintains a presence in the company, which she has passed on to the capable hands of Karen Edmonds.
A REALTOR® for more than 35 years in New York, Massachusetts and California, Gloria has been a trailblazer for women in the real estate industry and is a celebrated pioneer among her peers in both real estate and relocation. Her holdings have included a mortgage banking firm and an insurance company, as well as a multiple office real estate franchise in Northern California.
Gloria is a recognized leader in organized real estate. She co-founded the Southern California Relocation Council and served as a State Director of the California Association of Realtors, as well as on their Executive Committee.
Gloria’s distinctive career also includes service on the Board of Directors of Worldwide ERC (formerly the Employee Relocation Council), the Worldwide ERC Coalition – Center for Governmental Issues and Worldwide ERC’s Public Policy Management Committee. She is well-recognized by Worldwide ERC: she was the first realtor in the nation to receive two Senior Certified Relocation Professional designations, has received the President’s Award and four Distinguished Service Awards, and she was inducted into the association’s Hall of Leaders in 1995. Always a frequently-requested speaker at industry meetings, corporations and lending institutions around the country, she also has been a principal contributing author of two books: the Relocation Appraisal Guidebook and A Guide to Employee Relocation and Relocation Policy Development.
Thanks to Gloria’s leadership, in March of 1997 Winkelmann Realty was named Business of the Year… and fittingly, in June of 1997, Gloria Winkelmann was named Woman of the Year.
