SCRP, SGMS
April 10, 1945-December 8, 2010
Linda Hawkins, SCRP, SGMS was President of Winkelmann Realty from 2000 until her passing on December 8, 2010. She provided the succession plan that named Karen Edmonds to step into a leading role for the company. Karen carries on the Winkelmann tradition of integrity and innovation in honor of Linda Hawkins and Gloria Winkelmann.
One of the farewells from our industry about Linda captured her spirit well: “She was a warm and welcome face… a stately yet approachable woman; always a smile, always a kind word and a friendly conversation… a genuine and straightforward colleague with a heart big enough to embrace a wide circle of friends, and a talent for business that she shared for the greater good of the industry.”
She built a career marked by distinction: she was a licensed broker and a REALTOR® in California for more than 25 years. Linda’s connection to relocation preceded her choice of profession: she relocated in 1978 to Southern California after having lived in London, England for two years and in many cities on the East Coast of the United States. She was an active, much-admired and valued member of Worldwide ERC, the workforce mobility association, and spent much of her career in service to the organization, serving on various committees, participating as a panelist and speaker; contributing as an author and thought leader, and mentoring the many professionals who turned to her for guidance and insight. From Worldwide ERC, she received the Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) designation in 1990, was awarded the Global Mobility Specialist (GMS) designation in 2004, and received her Senior Certified Relocaiton Professional (SCRP) designation with a Distinguished Service Award in 2007. She also held a REOMAC designation, which she earned in 1996.
She was honored as a Past President of the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Southern California Relocation Council and member of Bay Area Professionals in Relocation Management, Relocation Director’s Council and REOMAC. She gained approval for Winkelmann Realty as a Minority and Woman-Owned Business, and led Winkelmann Realty to consistent successful outcomes in serving the relocation and REO industry during her tenure. Linda’s dedication to the relocation and real estate industries was exceptional, and her down-to-earth and unwavering approach to giving back to her professional community was applauded throughout her career.
